The Millionaire Nurse Says: “Merry Christmas!”

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of you who read and support the Millionaire Nurse Blog!

Please take a few minutes to give thanks to those who are working over the holidays!

And also keep our armed services, and first responders  in your thoughts and prayers.

And on a personal note I want to thank those who have helped our family deal with my wife’s sister, Donna, who broke her leg a few days ago…

Donna has met the challenge of cerebral palsy-living and working in the city, using public transportation to go to a job she loves.

Unfortunately, a recent ice storm resulted in a fall on the icy platform of the train station as she was trying to make it to work. She had a severe fracture of the tibial plateau, resulting in the need for surgery and no weight bearing for 3 months.

We have been blessed to receive great medical support in our efforts to get her back on her feet.

First, we had a physical therapist, Katie, from Pickens County, to come to my in-laws home on a Sunday morning to help us learn to transport Donna safely from wheel chair to car for her five hour ride to my home.

Then we have had great support from all the staff at Southern Orthopedics.

This includes Jim Franklin. a great PA,  Dr Wong who helped arrange surgery, and Dr Jackson who performed it, with Jim’s assistance.

I also have to thank Don Underwood, the left wing CRNA who I love to harass, who did everything he could do to keep Donna comfortable before and after  surgery.

And finally, the nurses who cared for her during her short stay at BMH till we were able to get her home with us.

And finally, my wife, who is the best nurse in the world, who took charge of her sister, well, like she was her sister!  She has made sure Donna has had everything she has needed.

And Donna who is blessed with a great sense of humor and has met this new challenge head on.

And finally my kids, family, and great friends who have all done more than I can say to support, feed, and love us during this and several recent challenges in our family.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may you all have a great 2011!

We are planning on having the best Christmas ever.

Warning, just be careful and don’t get in Donna’s way as she wheels through the halls here at Dr Dean’s place.

I give thanks all the time to my RN wife. People in health care are very special people. I owe a great deal of my success to her. Although I do not wait for a particular time to show my appreciation, this is a good time.
