Best In Nurse Blogs: Free Compliments Edition!

The latest edition of the Best In Nurse Blogs-my bi-weekly focus on the best writing by, for, or about Nurses!

Best In Nurse Blogs:

A new feature at The Millionaire Nurse Blog will be a series featuring interviews with nurses with interesting backgrounds, hobbies, jobs or life outlook.  FDL, a frequent guest poster and public health nurse will be starting that series soon.  She is a former military truck driver (she handled the big fuel hauling semis), and has some pretty different stuff in her own bio.  Nurses are interesting people-let her share your story.

My plan is to alternate it with the Best In Nurse Blog series that continues to be popular based on the number of tweets and page views it receives.

Consider this a casting call. Don’t be bashful.  Let me know if you’re interested, or you know someone whose story should be told.  I will forward your info to FDL.  Just send me a note here: dean at the millionaire nurse dot com  Remember…no spaces and don’t forget the @ and the . (dot)….

Now, on to:

The Best In Nursing Blogs

AJN proclaims Lieutenant General Patricia Horoho  to become the first nurse and first women to become the head of the US Army Medical Command.  This is the top job in military health care. Congratulations and best wishes as this is a very important position to provide the best care to those active duty personnel serving their country!

J.ParadisiRN explains how hospitals are different from restaurants….But it’s not about food.

The Nerdy Nurse shares a reveiw of headphones that don’t go in your ears. They work by transferring sound through the bones around your ears.  Interesting stuff. It sounds as if they would interfere with my selective hearing loss?…hmmm.

At Your Cervix discusses her views on the subjectivity of pain perception-especially in the context of labor and delivery.

Living up to his moniker, Wanderer RN is about to wander away. Life does involve change. Good luck with whatever you choose, and keep us posted @ Lost on the Floor.

Evernote is reviewed at Not Ratched.  I’ve been meaning to try it out, this may be the kick in the ass I need to get started.

Sean at My Strong Medicine has advice for co-workers with quirks.

Infusion Nurse has a few interesting tidbits to share in the, wait for it…. Infusion Field…surprised huh?

Coach Keith explains what nurses do, @Digital Doorway.  Hope you had a great time off!

An introduction/explanation of special needs nursing,  heartfelt and moving by Wendy at the J.E.R.K. LNC blog, and no that is not a joke about JERK.

The Corpus Collosum is explained by Jo at Head Nurse.  (that is in the brain for you non-medical lurkers…)

Nurse K at Crass-Pollination has an announcement for drug abusers.

Impacted Nurse has a few interesting CT scans.  Shroud of Turin comes to mind….

Stress in young women: a review of recent research.  The topic at Nursetopia.

JD, aka toronto emerg at Those Emergency Blues gets two entries: the stud man video might appeal to some, and the bottle/beach/snow  video to others.  I know it’s cliche, but ya never know what ya gonna get there.

Running Wildly has a funny chicken story. Really, it’s funny, I mean what are neighbors for if you can’t harass them a little.

DOT is reviewed by Lorrie at Correctional Nurse-no that’s not the department of transportation…

Embezzlement is the sad topic by Barbara at The Nurse Practitioner Business Blog. A most unfortunate concern for anyone running their own business.

ER Nurse Joy’s Tumblr is always worth a visit, I’m not sure which one I liked best so I’ll let you decide.

And thanks to Joni at Nursetopia for permission to use her free compliments artwork.  I love the idea of handing out compliments to co-workers.  We’ve been discussing the importance of teamwork here lately and this is a perfect way to build team spirit.

I am as guilty as anyone of taking my staff, co-workers, and hospital employees for granted.  I’ll be printing out something similar and begin giving them away. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Have a great week, and thanks so much for reading. I do appreciate your support and value your time!
