Cil Says: 

Personal Finance is a passion of Dean’s.  He started the blog because the nurses and others he works with often turn to him for financial advice.  ‘Cause he’s good at it. Explaining the complicated comes easy to him.

For him, it is a fascination and a passion. He likes the technical and the long term view of things.

For me, being frugal is a way of life, part of my inner being, my core!

Together we work and write and explore and share and have a great life that I wish everyone could have.

Individually, well, we’re pretty boring.

I (Cil) have a Public Health job that I love, but then, I’ve loved all my jobs.   Most of my many years of nursing have been spent in Women’s Health.  In Public Health I get to do a lot of that and feel like I make a difference.   If you have an STD, let me know, I’ll get you straight!

I am way past serious about nutrition and a faithful exerciser.  I like to ride a bike, jog, read, write, and garden. I make bread from my freshly ground wheat and cook mostly because I’m cheap and it’s healthier for you.

Dean:

My passion is helping others.  In my medical practice and here at The Millionaire Nurse Blog, and with our other programs, I get excited seeing and hearing nurses and my other readers when they have their “ah ha” moment, and get it.   Suddenly, they understand that with better choices and a little self-discipline they and their families can build real wealth.

I also like to have fun.  Life is too short to be a serious old white man, as my friend J.Money at Budgets Are Sexy says.

Cil and I have entrepreneurial spirits that motivate us to build new businesses and learn new tasks.

We are going places and doing things, even if it’s just sitting at our computer screens.  Come along, we welcome you on our journey!

We, Dean and Cil Burke,   are the engines behind this movement to make all our readers more financially literate,  successful, and maybe have a laugh along the way.

Dean Burke MD is the author of the book, The Millionaire Nurse, a basic primer to help nurses learn more about the basics of money management. Written in language that nurses can readily relate, the book is filled with healthcare anecdotes and corollaries to help you understand money.  How to succeed in wealth building with no gimmicks or get-rich-quick stuff is the goal- just solid information.

Cil Burke BSN works in public health,  a writer,  and is known far and wide for her frugality, organization,  and interest in improved efficiency in household management.

As a couple they are serial entrepreneurs.  Their business interests include property development in the USA and internationally, a franchise food business,  a cattle operation, and the development/management of a private medical group practice.  This in addition to their fast growing online business.  They are active in numerous community and civic organizations.
